MORE WOMEN KIDNEY DONORS,
MORE MEN KIDNEY RECEPIENTS.

NARAYANA HEALTH FELICITATES
KIDNEY DONORS FOR THEIR
GENEROSITY.

Narayana Health City celebrated International Women's Day and
World Kidney Day simultaneously.
Five women from different parts of Karnataka were felicitated for donating
their kidney & giving a new lease of life
their loved ones.
It was observed by doctors at Narayana Health City, that in Bengaluru 65% of
kidney donors at the hospital were women
Dr.Vincent Lloyd & his team of doctors interacting with
the kidney Donors.
& 70% of renal patients being men.According to a report published Indian journal of
Nephrology,in spousal kidney donation, wives constituted about 87% of all spousal
donors, and the trend is evident across the country too.

The doctors say that Kidney donation is a safe process and once completely evaluated &
cleared, the chance of the donation affecting a woman's lifespan or lifestyle is extremely
low where risks of having life threatening problem with donating a kidney is 1 in 3000.
Further, they say that women of child bearing age can have children after kidney
donation as the donor surgery does not affect their reproductive organs.

As more and more patients are getting affected with kidney problems, the government
should come out with a policy to help both the donors and also the recipients
financially.Even, the corporates can include this under their CSR activity as post
operative care is expensive for both the donors & recipients.
